Definition
Asset recovery is the process of maximizing value from surplus, idle, or retired assets through redeployment, resale, or recycling instead of write-off.
Also known as: surplus asset recovery, asset disposition
A recovery strategy routes each asset to its highest-value channel: internal reuse first, then fair-market resale, then recycling — with disposal as the last resort.
Complete documentation and verified condition can add 40–50% to the secondary-market price, so recovery is as much about records as it is about channels.
