What is Autonomous Sourcing?
Last updated July 2026
Autonomous sourcing is the use of AI to run sourcing events — capturing requests, benchmarking prices, comparing suppliers, and drafting quotes — with people approving the decisions that matter.
Also known as: autonomous procurement, AI sourcing
It targets the tail: the high-volume, low-value RFQs that consume analyst time but rarely get strategic attention. Automating them compresses quote turnaround from days to minutes.
Done well, autonomous sourcing also benchmarks each quote against fair market value, so overpriced buys are flagged before a PO is placed.
Manual RFQ 3–4 days → under 2 hours automated.
